Pioneering Ukrainian Websites (1995–2000)

The website of the Verkhovna Rada (www.rada.gov.ua), launched in 1995, became one of Ukraine’s Internet pioneers. Among the first websites were also Radio Lux and Dzerkalo Tyzhnia. The turning point came in 1997–1998, when print media, TV channels, and radio stations began establishing their own “branches” on the Internet, significantly expanding Ukraine’s digital presence.

A significant step forward was the launch of the first online media outlets: UAToday in 1999 and Ukrainska Pravda in 2000, marking the beginning of digital journalism in Ukraine.
