Introduction and Early Deployment of 5G in Ukraine 5G technology was successfully tested in Ukraine for the first time in May 2024, with a call connecting the Promprylad Innovation Center in Ivano-Frankivsk, Vodafone’s office in Kyiv, and Nokia’s office in Helsinki.

By November 2024, the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced that the government had approved amendments allowing pilot 5G deployment in three cities. In May 2025, Kyivstar announced that Lviv would be the first city for commercial 5G launch, following the successful pilot in Kyiv. A full rollout is expected post-victory, when large-scale infrastructure investment becomes possible.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian IT companies are already developing 5G-oriented products, from mobile applications to unmanned systems.
