The Beginning and Growth of Ukrainian Wikipedia

The first recorded attempts to create articles in Ukrainian Wikipedia date back to January 26, 2004. The first article, “Atom,” was created on January 30, 2004 by user 61.125.212.32 (later registered as Yuri Koval) from Fuji, Japan.

As of August 17, 2025, Ukrainian Wikipedia ranks 14th among all language editions (between Japanese and Vietnamese Wikipedia) and 3rd among Slavic Wikipedias (between Polish and Serbian Wikipedia), with over 1.3 million articles.
