The Emergence of Mobile Internet and 3G in Ukraine

The first 3G license in Ukraine was issued to Ukrtelecom in 2005, marking the beginning of the country’s mobile Internet history.

In practice, mobile Internet started with CDMA networks like PEOPLEnet and MTS Connect, which began operating in 2006–2007. The first CDMA 3G operator, PEOPLEnet, launched in December 2006, offering data speeds up to 3.1 Mbps.
