Introduction of 2G Internet in Ukraine

2G Internet appeared in Ukraine in the early 2000s, providing broad access to the network. It allowed users to browse simplified web pages, send emails, and chat via messengers like ICQ, albeit at very low speeds of 100–150 kbps. This offered the first mobile digital experience, making Internet access from a phone no longer a fantasy.

Although cities are now covered by 3G and 4G, 2G networks are still used in Ukraine, especially in remote areas or for devices that do not require high speeds, such as feature phones, ATMs, and trackers.
