The First Satellite Communication Channel in Ukraine
In February 1993, UARNET and the Swedish Space Corporation built Ukraine’s first satellite communication channel via the Tele-X satellite.

1995
Pioneering Ukrainian Websites (1995–2000)
From the Verkhovna Rada’s website in 1995 to the launch of digital media outlets like UAToday (1999) and Ukrainska Pravda (2000), these early websites marked the beginning of Ukraine’s online presence and digital journalism.

First International Fiber-Optic Communication Line in Ukraine
In 1996, Ukraine launched its first international fiber-optic communication line through Palermo, Istanbul, and Odesa, alongside the Kyiv–Odesa line with branches to Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Cherkasy, marking a major leap in telecommunications infrastructure.

Launch of Ukraine’s Popular News Portal Ukr.net
Founded in 1998, Ukr.net became Ukraine’s most popular news portal and remains among the top ten most visited Ukrainian websites, marking a key milestone in the country’s online news and information services.

1999
Foundation of Aiken Studio – Early Ukrainian Web Development
Established in December 1999, Aiken Studio became one of Ukraine’s first web development “factories,” creating websites for major brands and media outlets, including Toyota, Yandex, Fakty i Komentari, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ online publication.
